US 15/PA 581 Improvement Project - Highlights

 

US 15

  • Reconstruction of US 15 between Slate Hill Road Interchange and Gettysburg Road with new asphalt pavement.

  • Permanent closure of the ramps at the US 15 interchange at Gettysburg Road.

  • Construction of a new interchange providing access to Lower Allen Drive (Previously Zimmerman Drive).

  • Constructing a third lane on US 15 Northbound between Slate Hill Road and Lower Allen Drive.

  • One new bridge over Lower Allen Drive.

  • One box culvert extension.

  • Two new concrete retaining walls.

  • Two new sound barriers.

PA 581

  • Widening of Route 581 Eastbound between US 15 and Interstate 83 interchanges to provide an auxiliary lane.

  • Widening of the 17 span viaduct carrying PA 581 Eastbound.

  • One new concrete retaining wall.


Improvements and Resurfacing of Side Roads

  • Gettysburg Road

  • Lower Allen Drive (Previously Zimmerman Drive)

Miscellaneous Improvements

  • A left turn lane and temporary ramp from US 15 Northbound to PA 581 Westbound. The existing ramp from US 15 Northbound to PA 581 Westbound will be closed.

  • One new box culvert on the ramp from Lower Allen Drive to Gettysburg Road.

  • New storm water drainage facilities.

  • Numerous utility relocations.

  • New guiderail and concrete barrier.

  • New traffic signing.

  • New traffic signals.
