The following projected work activities are derived
from the contractor's anticipated schedule, and are subject to change.
US 15
-
US 15 Northbound between Lower Allen Drive Interchange
and Camp Hill Mall
- US 15 Northbound at the south end of the project has
been shifted slightly east to allow the contractor
reconstruct a portion of Bridge 3 (US 15 over Gettysburg
Road.). Just
north of Bridge 2 (US 15 over Norfolk Southern
Railroad), US 15 NB traffic is shifted west into the
passing lane and median of US 15 SB for the construction
of the new US 15 Northbound bridge over PA 581, before
returning to the normal US 15 NB alignment just south of
Harvard Avenue.
During this phase (anticipated to remain in
effect through October 2010), Dickenson and Columbia
Avenues will be closed at US 15, preventing all turning
movements at these intersections.
Two lanes of unrestricted traffic are being
maintained in both directions of US 15 during daytime
hours. From 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, single-lane
traffic restrictions are permissible in both directions
on PA 581 and are possible for construction activities.

US 15 Southbound between Camp Hill Mall and Lower Allen
Drive Interchange

US
15 SB traffic has been shifted west and merges with Ramp
C (PA 581 WB to US 15 SB) traffic just north of Bridge 1
(US 15 over Pa 581) at a newly installed temporary
traffic signal. Both Ramp C (PA 581 WB to US 15
SB) traffic and US 15 SB traffic travel across the newly
constructed portion of Bridge 1 (US 15 over PA 581) and
merges with Ramp D (PA 581 EB to US 15 SB) traffic at a
recently installed temporary traffic signal just north
of Bridge 2 (US 15 over Norfolk Southern RR). US
15 SB, Ramp C, and Ramp D traffic then continue across
the newly constructed portions of Bridge 2 (US 15 over
Norfolk Southern RR) and Bridge 3 (US 15 over Gettysburg
Road) then return to the normal US 15 SB alignment. This
phase is anticipated to remain in effect throughout the
summer months. Two lanes of unrestricted traffic are
being maintained in both directions of US 15 during
daytime hours. From 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM,
single-lane traffic restrictions are permissible in both
directions on PA 581 and are possible for construction
activities.

(US 15 over PA 581).

Continue construction of remaining portion of new SB
structure of Bridge 2 (US 15 over the Norfolk Southern
RR).

Continue construction of a portion of the new SB
structure of Bridge 3 (US 15 over Gettysburg Road).

Place bituminous pavement for new US 15 SB lanes.

Continue installing highway lighting.

Continue installing drainage pipe and inlets.

Continue erecting overhead sign structures.
PA 581
-
PA 581 from Viaduct Bridge over 18th Street to US 15 /
PA 581 Interchange
- PA 581 Eastbound and Westbound traffic from the
Viaduct Bridge over 18th Street continuing
west through the US 15/PA 581 interchange has been
shifted slightly to the south to permit
construction/widening for declaration/acceleration lane
along PA 581 WB.
Two lanes of unrestricted traffic are being
maintained in both directions of PA 581 during daytime
hours. From 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, single-lane
traffic restrictions are permissible in both directions
on PA 581 and are possible for construction activities.

Continue construction of Ground Mounted Sound Barrier
Wall NSA-6 (S-26598) along PA 581 WB and new Ramp A.

Continue construction of Ground Mounted Sound Barrier
Wall NSA-6 (S-26606) along PA 581 WB and new Ramp H.

Install drainage pipe and inlets.

Continue erecting overhead sign structures.

Continue installing highway lighting.
US 15 / PA
581 Interchange Ramps

All US 15/PA 581 ramp movements are being maintained in
permanent or temporary configurations at all times with
the exception of the Ramp G detour as noted below.

Ramp G (PA 581 EB to US 15 NB) Detour
– Ramp G (PA 581 EB to US 15 NB) is currently closed and
traffic is being detoured to the Lower Allen Drive
interchange via Ramp D (PA 581 EB to US 15 SB).
This detour is anticipated to remain in effect
through October 2010.
Signing will be in place to direct traffic along
the detour route. Visit

Continue reconstruction of permanent Ramp F (US 15 NB to
PA 581 EB); Ramp G (PA 581 EB to US 15 NB).

Continue construction of PA 581 Eastbound and Westbound
collector distributer roads.

Continue installing highway lighting.
Lower Allen Drive (Formerly Zimmerman Drive)
-
Lower Allen Drive is open to unrestricted traffic in the
final configuration.
Short term lane closures are possible to complete
miscellaneous work activities.

Install pedestrian push buttons on traffic signals.
Gettysburg Road
-
Long-term single lane closures are in effect for WB and
EB Gettysburg Road traffic in the area of the US 15
Bridge to protect the work zone and facilitate the US 15
Bridge work.

The existing ramps to and from US 15 at Gettysburg Road
have been permanently closed.
Local traffic entering and exiting US 15 must now
do so at the new Lower Allen Drive Interchange just
south of Gettysburg Road

Gettysburg Road Detour
Gettysburg Road between the Bon-Ton and Simpson Ferry
Road, has been detoured to permit ramp reconstruction.
This detour is anticipated to remain in effect
through October 2010.
